The 2022–23 NHL season saw the Vegas Golden Knights fulfill their owner’s "Cup in Six" promise, winning the title in their sixth season by defeating the Florida Panthers. Jonathan Marchessault won the Conn Smythe. The season was most notable for Connor McDavid’s legendary performance; he scored 64 goals and 153 points, the highest total since 1996. The Boston Bruins set all-time NHL records for wins (65) and points (135) in a regular season but suffered a shocking first-round exit, proving once again that the playoffs are a different beast entirely.
