Value in Canadian currency: $360,000. In May 1984, Patty Ginnell and a group of Swift Current businessmen came up with $360,000 to purchase the Western Hockey League junior franchise when Pocklington Amalgamated Sports, which owned 70% of the club, put it up for sale. But Kamloops shareholders, acting on first right of refusal, came up with the difference to keep the defending league champions in British Columbia.
