Russian National Junior Team
There is a possibility that eight NHLers will be able to join the Russian National
Junior Team. Alexei Volkov, Kiril Safronov, Alexander Ryazantsev and Dennis Shvidky have
already taken part in the ice practice in Novogorsk, near Moscow. There are already six
1999 Junior World Champions on the team's roster with Artem Mariams and Alexander
Zevakhin. The coaching committee of the Russian Hockey Federation carries on negotiations
with the NHL on Anaheims draftee Vitaly Vishnevsky and Calgarys draftee Oleg
Saprykin. Buffalos draftee Dimitri Kalinin can also join the team.
For the moment there is an extended list of 28 players. The
final roster of 25 players will be announced in Sweden a day before the championships.
