Team Russia at the Baltic Cup.
The head coach of team Russia, Alexander Yakushev, announced the list of candidates
for the Russian team who will compete at the third stage of The Four Nations Baltic Cup
tournament held in Russia on December 16-21. Players selected are:
Goaltenders: Egor Podomatsky
(Torpedo Yaroslavl), Maxim Sokolov (SKA St. Petersburg).
Defensemen: former Jet, Red Wing and
Shark Sergei Bautin (Nurnsburg Ice Tigers, Germany), Dimitry
Krasotkin (Torpedo Yaroslavl), teammates Montreal draftee Andrei Markov
and Alexander Khavanov (Dynamo Moscow), Washington draftee Sergey
Tertishny (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), teammates Oleg Shargorodsky
and Dallas draftee Yevgeny Petrochinin (Metallurg Novokuznetsk) and
former Senator Dimitri Filimonov (Molot-Prikamie Perm).
Forwards: former NHLers Ravil
Gusmanov, Maxim Bets, Valeri Karpov
(representatives of Metallurg Magnitogorsk), former NHLer Sergei Petrenko
(Vitkovitse, Check Republick), Alexander Prokopiev, former Maple Leaf Alexei
Kudashov, Alexander Kuvaldin, Alexander Kharitonov
(all Dynamo Moscow), teammates Nashville draftee Denis Arkhipov and Yuri
Dobryshkin (AkBars Kazan), Maxim Sushinsky (Avangard Omsk),
Calgary draftee Dimitri Vlasenkov (Torpedo Yaroslavl), Alexei
Koznev (SKA St. Petersburg).
Detroit draftee Pavel Datsuk (Dynamo-Energiya Ekaterinsburg) is
unfortunately scratched. As for goaltender Dimitri Yachanov (AkBars Kazan) and defensemen
Alexander Zhdan, Dimitri Bykov (AkBars Kazan) they were not released by their club because
it takes part in the final tournament for the Continental Cup.
Thats why defensemen Vitalie Proshkin and Oleg Orekhovsky
(Dynamo Moscow) were invited to take part in the Baltic Tournament. Alexei Gorshkov
(Torpedo Yaroslavl) and Dimitri Zatonsky (Avangard Omsk) will join team Russia as well.
