Russian All-Star Game
The first Russian All-Star game was a great success by all accounts and
there is no need to prove how popular ice hockey is among the fans of the "poor
country of politicians". Imagine Novokuznetsky Ice Palace was sold out! Initially, it
was built only for 7,800 attendees but the organizers managed to accommodate 8,200 fans!
The only disappointing fact was that Russian TV heads deprived millions
of Russians of the pleasure of seeing the first hockey fest. At least there were small
local TV companies that tried to popularize and promote the show. They do know that there
are lots of fans who love and appreciate the work of those who do their best on the ice.
After all the players for the All-Star Game were chosen according to fan
voting that was held by one authoritative Russian sporting newspaper.
