Canadian Forward Steven Zorich is dismissed
from Avangard Omsk
A week before the only Canadian forward in the Russian
championship was dismissed from Avangard Omsk, his teammate Alexamder Gulyavtsev had
commented on the play of the two Canadians on the team: "They try to do their best to
learn how to play here, but I don't think they have become acclimated to Russia yet. But
Canadians immediately absorb the principles of Avangard's play and match the roster of the
team. In general, they are excellent guys!"
On the 12th of November, the president of Avangard Omsk, Anatoly
Bardin, explained the reason for the dismissal: "It's nothing more than the constant
violation of team rules." The next day, Steven Zorich left for Canada.
