Legendary Russian Develops Canadian Talents
Hardly anyone person in North America could guess the name of
the person who has managed to provide Russian hockey with six Canadian players. His name
is Alexander Tyzhnikh. Do you know this name? Probably not yet.
He is as well-known in Russia as Vladislav Tretyak, who now
coaches NHL Chicagos goaltenders and has a lot of schools of his own for netminders
in North America. Alexander Tyzhnikh was a back up goalie for the Soviet National team and
worked with Vladislav Tretyak for many years. When he retired from hockey he made up his
mind to stay in Canada and try to coach youth hockey in Ottawa. His business turned out to
be a successful one and he opened his goaltenders schools in three towns in the
Atlantic provinces. He plans to extend his business next year.
When he finished his career, he started to work as an agent as
well. Among his clients are a lot of NHLers, AHLers, players from Canadian and European
hockey leagues. In the summer he organizes their training camp. In general, he has young
clients who are 15 to 18 years old. With the help of his organization, a profitable
advertising contract was signed by the Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman.
