Vincent Riendeau starts ice practice
At the end of October during the second stage of the Continental
Cup match where Lada Togliatti played in England versus Cardiff, goalie Vincent Riendeau
slightly strained his knee. He was replaced by his former NHL teammate, Yevgeny
Ryabchikov, who proved his goaltenders skill. His team won the match against
Krystall Electrostal in the Russian hockey championships and then extended its winning
streak to four games. Yevgeny Ryabchikov had three shutouts.
After the match, Yevgeny answered a few questions:
1) How do you describe your relationship with Vincent?
Quite OK. We are good friends and have known each other for a
long time. We became friends at training camp in Boston five years ago. Now we are living
in the same hotel and talk a lot because there is hardly any one in the team who can speak
English.
2) Do you consider Vincent as a rival or a fellow worker?
Of course he is my teammate. Whoever is in the best shape will
play goaltender in the game.
3) Do you consider your four years spent in the North America
as a netminder useful or not?
That is difficult to answer. There were a lot of good and bad moments. Moreover it was
very interesting. American hockey greatly differs from ours. I highly appreciate the
experience I acquired there.
