How is your RRSP
(yeah, yeah, 401k down there!) doing? Mario Lemieux, the new NHL (re) retiree, accumulated about $US 50M in salary as a player since 1989 (when salaries started being public). To this amount, whatever he made in his first 5 pre-89 seasons has to be added.
Zigmund Palffy, on the other hand, made about $US 36M during the career he mysteriously ended recently. Finally, Brett Hull accumulated $US 52M in career, before deciding to retire shortly after a ceremony where his father, Bobby, was un-retiring his number 9 for his son!
The HockeyZonePlus database on the
yearly salary history of 2,600+ NHLers since 1989 shows how much they
each accumulated over time. |
