During his first season in Montréal, after playing 3 years in Pittsburgh, Pierre Larouche
comments on an individual practice held with Habs' assistant coach, Claude Ruel, which
basically consisted of skating with a puck while being yelled "Skate! Skate!
Both hands on the stick! Head Up!":"It was
great. It was the first time, in 4 years with the pros, that I was given practical advice.
Sure, NHL players should know to hold their stick with both hands and keep their head up
but no matter how experienced he is, it's a good reminder. In Pittsburgh, they never told
me that."
-- Pierre Larouche - April 1978
So, in other words, Claude Ruel is the father of scientific hockey...? |
